Jason Cassel, RPT, currently serves as a piano technician for the renowned Brigham Young University School of Music in Utah, where he maintains and services a large and diverse inventory of performance and teaching pianos. He holds a Master of Arts in Piano Technology from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Music in Commercial Music from BYU. In addition to his role at BYU, Jason has worked as a senior piano technician for the Aspen Music Festival, one of the most prestigious summer music festivals in the world.

Throughout his career, Jason has received extensive manufacturer training from leading companies such as Steinway & Sons, Yamaha, Mason & Hamlin, and Renner USA. His technical expertise has led him to become a highly sought-after instructor, regularly teaching at Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) seminars and conventions across the United States. His classes consistently attract large audiences, and he is known for his clear, practical, and in-depth approach to piano technology.

Beyond his national teaching schedule, Jason has also taught piano technology internationally, sharing his knowledge with technicians around the world. What type of tools will I need?

Most experienced piano tuners, especially those who completed our Piano Tuning & Repair Course V4 and purchased the PTA tool kit, will already have many of these items on hand. Additional tools and supplies can be sourced from piano supply companies, hardware stores, or online retailers such as Amazon. PTA also sells a few of these tools individually as well as a basic tool kit and a pro tool kit.
